The Berlin Architecture Prize Association and the Association for the Reconstruction of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Villa Wolf in Gubin, together with the commercial law firm ZIRNGIBL, the Funk Gruppe and BIM Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH, invite you to the lecture evening “Common Polish-German Architectural Heritage” with subsequent Q&A session (both in English) on Tuesday, 7 November 2023 at 6:30 pm at the KutscherHaus at Kurfürstendamm 50a / George-Grosz-Platz.
Common architectural heritage.
The first house by Walter Gropius – a granary near Stettin/Szczecin – and the first modern house by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe – the Villa Wolf in Guben/Gubin.
The Warsaw Bauhaus Foundation reports on the rescue of Walter Gropius’ first house in Janków near Szczecin, a picturesque granary, as an exhibition venue that is intended to combine art, ecology and communal creativity in the spirit of the Bauhaus. The Villa Wolf Association reports on the status of the reconstruction plans for Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s first modern house in Gubin and presents the new editions of the Villa Wolf book edited by Dietrich Neumann in Polish, English and German.
Warsaw Bauhaus is an interdisciplinary, constantly living and changing organism active in many fields of art. Our foundation creates and engages in events at the intersection of visual arts, architecture, conservation, design, performance, dance and theater. We act in a collective and social way. As a team of artists, cultural animators and curators we create situations whose core is embedded in a social and historical context. Our practice is based on conscious openness and transparency. Following the ideas of Walter Gropius, we firmly believe that the fields of architecture, humanism and art should reflect life itself by bringing a deeper knowledge of the environment, society, technology and artistic issues into wider circulation.
